SHERRY
TRECO-JONES, APR, FELLOW PRSA

Sherry
Treco-Jones is a strategic communications counselor with a career
marked with achievement in public relations, marketing communications
and sales. She is president of Treco-Jones Public Relations Inc.
and a partner and founder of Agency ID, LLC, (www.agencyid.com)
an agency search firm.
Her
designation as a PRSA Fellow is a career capstone bestowed on fewer
than 550 public relations professionals nationally by the College
of Fellows, Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She is also
a member of the PRSA|GA Order of the Phoenix and PR Hall of Fame
at the Grady College of Journalism, University of Georgia - for
her industry leadership, high ethical standards and commitment to
serve the community. Additionally, she has earned industry accreditation
with an APR status.
As
a senior consultant, she focuses primarily on helping clients to:
1) develop strategic messages, and marketing and communications
plans to meet their objectives, 2) execute strategic communications
initiatives, and/or 3) prepare for and manage crises, including
litigation support. She works with businesses, associations, and
nonprofit organizations.
She
has owned and sold an award-winning Atlanta public relations agency,
with high profile local and national clients. Concurrently, she
was a partner and founder of a marketing communications firm dedicated
to the healthcare industry. An international agency veteran, she
worked for Ketchum Communications in the 1980s and as a Senior Vice
President for Fleishman-Hillard in the late 1990s. Her clients spanned
the corporate and non-profit sectors. Prior to her agency career,
she was the public relations director, and developed the first public
relations program, for a well-known children's hospital, effectively
changing its brand. She began her career as a writer and editor.
Treco-Jones
has been a contributor to the Atlanta community over the years,
serving on local boards of directors and providing counsel to its
executives. The Connecticut native holds a B.A. in English. She
has been listed consistently in Who's Who publications and has received
many professional honors, included numerous PRSA awards and awards
from IABC, Atlanta Ad Club, Southeastern Art Directors Club, trade
associations and other organizations. Her firm has received many
kudos, the most recent in October 2007 when her practice was one
of 15 public relations firms listed in 'Selected Agencies' by PR
Week in its Atlanta marketplace report.
Treco-Jones
is an acknowledged industry leader. Active locally and nationally
in the Public Relations Society of America, she received Georgia's
Dyar Massey Award in 2001 to denote advancement of, and service
to, the public relations profession. She served as president of
the 900+-member Georgia Chapter/PRSA in 1999, and as National Co-Chair
of the PRSA International Conference in 2001. She was named to the
National PRSA Board of Directors in 2000. She has also served as
the professional advisor to Georgia State University's public relations
student society, PRSSA, and frequently lectures on marketing and
public relations topics to business, associations and nonprofit
audiences. She has co-chaired PRSA/Georgia's Healthcare Special
Interest Group and served as a member of Emory University's Public
Affairs Council and other community boards. She is an active member
of PRSA and other area organizations, and she serves as a marketing
consultant with the Georgia Center for Nonprofits.
